REMOVE FURNITURE - Wood furniture will cause stains which cannot be removed. Rust stains from metal are difficult to remove and may be permanent. 95% of water damage jobs are restorable, and the 5% which aren't restored, most are caused by not doing this. So either move furniture that's even near water or place something under the legs.

WATER DAMAGE

Water damage arises from many sources. It may be as simple as an air conditioner condensation pan or sink overflow, a frozen pipe, or a malfunctioning appliance. Unfortunately, it can be as messy as a sewage backup or rain water flowing in from the outside a home or business. Regardless of the source of your water loss, or whether or not insurance coverage is available to cover your loss, it is up to you, the individual property owner, to take “reasonable and prudent steps to preserve protect and secure their property from further damage”. We understand that this can be overwhelming and probably a little confusing, and we sympathize with you. We will do everything possible to help you through this trying experience.

DAMAGE CONTAINMENT

Of the many types of disasters, water damage disasters escalate the most rapidly into potential hazards. Rapid response is critical. Not just to avoid increased property damage, but also to avoid health hazards. Within minutes… Water spreads quickly to additional areas, rapidly increasing the scope and cost of the loss. Stain from furniture may discolor carpet permanently. Paper goods are ruined by moisture absorption, swelling and warping. Within hours… Furniture in direct contact with water swells or splits. Drywall swells paneling warps. Odor becomes apparent. Within days… Mold appears, along with characteristic “musty” odor. Sensitive internal components in pianos and organs swell and malfunction with elevated humidity. Metal surfaces begin to rust. Doors and window casings swell and distort or delaminate. Water damage can be deceptive. Water penetrates into structural cavities creating trapped pockets of saturation. The detection of water in these areas can often only be discovered with sophisticated moisture detection meters. Undetected moisture will continue to cause damage. This damage, at a minimum, will cause odors. Greater damage will surface when materials delaminate, shrink, split and further deteriorate to the point where costly repairs are required. More than just removing excess water, trained restorers have the knowledge and equipment to further dry a home or facility (including substructure materials) completely back to pre- loss conditions. At the end of the containment portion, the restoration moves into coordination... Coordination: No further work is performed until a job scope/estimate is completed, costs are calculated, and coordination with responsible parties is made. Your questions are answered and insurance coverage is confirmed. With proper coordination by conscientious restorers, there should never be surprises about who is responsible for payment. After completing coordination, we move to... Completion: Restoration technicians will take all the steps required to return the structure and contents to a pre-loss condition.
